Creating large scale collaborations requires bringing together a strong mobilizing concept that is open enough to drive and inspire collaboration. Why this is desirable, how 2 plus 2 can equal far more than four, is the theme of this talk. It is argued through examples.

This discussion will explore several large-scale collaborative projects. The first is Horizon Zero, an online web publication and commissioning site that that I developed, funded and now act as Editor in Chief for. I will then describe and share documentation from the latest version of CodeZebra, The Habitution Cage and Fashion components. I will describe the state of the visualization software and talk about the experiences with time, space and invention that were key to the Habituation Cages, and the early stages of costume and fashion design for the wearable component of CodeZebra.
